Turkish pizza

In the Middle East, Turkish pizza is called lahmacum (lag-maa-djoen, you're welcome). It’s a thin pizza topped with a red spicy sauce and minced beef or lamb. So Turkish pizza is much thinner compared to Italian pizza. Moreover, Turkish pizza is also not topped with numerous ingredients and certainly not with grated cheese.

Preparation of Turkish pizza with minced lamb and feta cheese on the BBQ

For the preparation of the Turkish pizza with lamb and feta, we use the Barbecook KamalThis charcoal egg BBQ is made of ceramic which ensures that the heat is retained for a long time. The kamado BBQ works like an oven and will make the Turkish pizza extra crispy. We use Barbecook's round pizza plate made of refractory clay to bake the pizza on.

Mix the minced lamb with the finely chopped onion, garlic, ras el hanout, paprika, cumin, oregano and salt & pepper. Put the mixture in Barbecook's cast iron grill pan and pour some olive oil over it. Then place the pan on the preheated barbecue. Roll out the pizza dough and divide the tomato puree evenly over the dough. Once the minced meat is baked, spread it over the pizza. In the meantime, place the pizza plate on the barbecue and let it warm up a little. After about five minutes, put the pizza on top. Close the lid. After a few minutes, sprinkle the feta over the pizza and continue baking. Bake the pizza for 10 to 15 minutes until it is nice and crispy. Meanwhile, mix the yoghurt with the lemon juice and fresh mint.

Remove the pizza from the barbecue using Barbecook’s pizza spatula. Drizzle with the homemade yogurt dressing.

Want to easily cut your pizza into pieces? Use our Barbecook pizza cutter or a pizza board and cutter of Point-Virgule.

Are you a real veggie lover? Then add some vegetables to your Turkish pizza. The minced lamb is delicious in combination with grilled sweet pepper or fresh spinach.

Enjoy!
